<image:caption>In the Crease Digital video, 28' Bryant Lake Bowl Mpls, MN 9.11.2011 performers: Jennifer Arave, Jaime Carrera, Nick LeMere Inspired by the events of 9/11, but not a memorial, In the Crease reflects on the moment a person realizes they will not be returning to home, that they will be dying at work. When and if do they choose to surrender or to fight? I approach the choreographic in my work with the use of the ‘performative object’, the plywood board and the exploration of the tenuousness of action on/of the board. And the use of dual devices time measurements/and management of “stage time” and “real-time”.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Canon HD video, 33' Southern Theater, Mpls, MN Walker Art Center Momentum series 7.18-20, 2013 performers: MaryAnn Bradly, Charles Gehr Canon mines the legacy of Punk rock gestures and and aggressive expressions. The physical language arising from the counter-culture of disenfranchised youth is used to illustrate a feminist perspective within a historically male-driven experience. Canon equates Punk's Iggy Pop and Wendy O's influence with that of modern dance’s Merce Cunningham and Martha Graham.</image:caption>

The action was paired with an loosely related recorded narrative. “Expect the Unexpected” is about memory, permanent record, and the weight of cultural and personal expectation over lap and effect the individual.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Hero Digitial video, 32' Soap Factory, Mpls, MN Artery series 2010 performers: Jennifer Arave, Sinem SInan Goknur, Jennifer Johanneson, Kimberly Lesik, Germaine Lindsey, Scotty Reynolds, Hero is a performance installation exploring the production of Heroes and the subsequential aftermath of called the so called “CNN Effect”. In 1986 baby Jessica was trapped in a well for 56 hours. Because of the over abundance of media, the unceasing coverage and the scramble to create a Hero via book deals and media spots, the community of Midland Texas was torn in the midst of the upheaval. I use devices of duration and repetition and the “real-life” time measurement of toast making and eating to alter how to represent levels of perceived time. I also invoke the use of ladders as “performing” objects .</image:caption>
